MUSCAT – Duqm Refinery and Petrochemical Industries Company L.L.C (DRPC) has awarded the FEED (Front End Engineering Design) contract for the Petrochemicals Complex to the UK-based Wood Group, Dr. Salim al-Huthaili CEO of DRPC told WAF News exclusively.
“The phase will take somewhere between a year and a year and a half, and towards the end of it, we will initiate the project financing (phase)”, al-Huthaili said. He added that the construction phase is expected to commence after a year and a half.
Wood Group, formerly known Amec Foster Wheeler, worked also on Duqm Refinery’s FEED contract.
Commenting on the progress of Duqm Refinery, al-Huthaili said that the construction work on the project has exceeded 20%. “The rate is increasing by 4% per month” he added. Al-Hathili expects construction to accelerate as the number of contracted employees rise.
Separately, al-Hathili said that Duqm DRPC will build the 8 tanks located in the Ras Markaz storage hub and a pipeline of approximately 38 kilometers to Duqm Refinery, as part of the refinery’s third phase.
Ras Markaz storage hub is being developed by Oman Tank Terminal Company L.L.C. (OTTCO), one of Oman Oil subsidiaries.
