MUSCAT (WAF): Omani Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs at Oman’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Khalifa al-Harthy, received today Timothy A Lenderking from the U.S. Department of State.

In his meeting with al-Harthy, Lenderking, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of States for Arabian Gulf Affairs in the Near East Bureau at the U.S. Department of State discussed “issues of mutual concern” to Oman and the US, al-Harthy said on his official Twitter account.

Oman has been maintaining its peacemaker position towards all regional conflicts, including the ongoing war in Yemen, and the tension with Iran.

Lendering’s visit comes a day after two US senators visited Oman and had a meeting with al-Harthy.

Senator Todd Young and Senator Angus King were on a regional tour which included at least two of the GCC countries. King’s official account on Twitter said that the trip to the Middle East is “part of a Congressional Delegation to better understand the challenges we face in the region.”

Over the last two weeks, Omani officials at MoFA received Mikhail Bogdanov Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister and then Sweden’s Foreign Minister Margot Wallström. They both have held talks with Yemeni politicians as well in Oman.
