MUSCAT (WAF)- The utility-scale solar power project by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) located at Amin will commence operations next month, PDO’s monthly newsletter reported.

The 100MW PV Independent Power Project (IPP) at Amin was awarded by PDO to a Japanese-led consortium in January last year. And it is the first utility-scale solar IPP project to be completed in Oman.

“The plant, consisting of more than 336,000 PV panels will provide electricity for PDO’s Interior operations,” PDO’s newsletter stated.

Amin Renewable Energy Co represents the interest of the consortium of Marubeni (50.1%), Oman Gas Company (30%), Bahwan Renewable Energy Company (10%) and Nebras Power (9.9%). The consortium won PDO’s contract to develop, finance, build, operate and maintain the Solar IPP project for an undisclosed value.
