Public transportation to be resumed in Oman next week

MUSCAT (WAF): The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology announced the resumption of public transport between and within cities – in phases – starting from 27 September.

The Ministry said in a post today that the intercity service will be resumed starting from 27 September, the city service in Muscat will be resumed as of 4 October, and in Dhofar Governorate on 18 October.

The Ministry added that the operator, Mwasalat, will announce the date to operate city service in Sohar.

The public transportation service will have to abide by the measures approved by Oman’s Supreme Committee dealing with the Coronavirus, including sterilising buses before and after the end of the trip, taking the temperature of passengers between cities, wearing a face mask throughout the trip, maintaining physical distancing between passengers, preventing passengers from standing inside buses, avoiding touching the handles on the bus, and stressing the necessity of disclosing any symptoms similar to COVID19’s.
