MUSCAT (WAF): The Sultanate of Oman announced today the start of gas production from the second phase of the giant gas Block 61 in Oman, Ghazeer, Oman’s state TV -citing the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and the partners in the Block, BP, OQ, and Petronas- reported the new milestone in Khazzan-Ghazeer development project.

With Ghazeer’s gas production, following Khazzan’s in September 2017, the Block’s capacity rises to “1.5 billion cubic feet of gas a day (bcf/d) and around 65,000 barrels a day of condensate, with an estimated 10.5 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas resources,” Oman TV’s news centre reported.

Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals said that Ghazeer gas production is four-month ahead of schedule.

Last June, Dr Mohammad al-Ramahy, Minister of Energy and Minerals, said in statements to WAF News that the contribution of the Sultanate’s government in developing the Khazzan and Ghazeer project in Block 61 was about $ 1.5 billion out of $ 9.3 billion invested by the end of the first quarter of this year.
