MUSCAT (WAF): Tethys Oil expects the results of testing Thameen-1 well in an attempt to flow hydrocarbons to the surface within three weeks, the company said in a statement.
The well, located in Block 49, “has drilled to its final total depth and wireline logging operations have been completed,” Sweden-based Tethys Oil stated. And according to the company’s earlier statements, Thameen-1 was drilled to close to 4,000 meters to evaluate “three potential reservoir targets.”
In 2017, Oman’s government, represented by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, awarded the 15,439 km2 Block 49 to Tethys Oil to conduct seismic work and drill exploration wells to appraise the hydrocarbons in the onshore Block.
Magnus Nordin, Managing Director of Tethys Oil AB, said in the company’s statement, “this is not a discovery yet, but we are very encouraged by the progress so far and it is great news for the overall prospectivity of the Block. Now we have to be patient for another three weeks as we await the test results.”
