MUSCAT (WAF)- Oman’s largest independent solar power plant of 500MW will commence commercial operation in August, Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) has announced.
OETC, the national electricity grid company, said in a post on its Twitter account that it has started transferring the energy produced from the Ibri solar power plant while conducting operational tests, which began this week.
The 500MW Ibri 2 solar PV project is the largest utility-scale green power plant in Oman, with an investment value of approximately $400 million. In 2019, the state-owned Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) announced awarding the project to a Saudi-led consortium of ACWA Power (50%), Gulf Investment Corporation (40%), and Alternative Energy Projects Co. (10%).
